QA & Troubleshooting

Common questions regarding fitment, capacity, and installation.

How do I know if my bumper cable is broken? +

The most common symptoms of a broken bumper cable are: the vacuum constantly backing up, spinning in endless circles, or immediately stopping and beeping to indicate a "bumper stuck" error. If you open the vacuum and see this multi-colored wire is visibly pinched, severed, or corroded, replacing it will fix the problem.

Why does this cable have so many different colored wires? +

The front bumper of your R-Series vacuum houses multiple smart sensors, including infrared (IR) obstacle detectors and left/right physical bump switches. This multi-wire harness transmits all those different signals to the motherboard simultaneously so your robot can navigate smoothly.

Do I need professional tools or a soldering iron to install this? +

Not at all. This is a complete plug-and-play harness. Both ends feature plastic terminal clips that easily snap into the corresponding ports. You only need a standard Phillips screwdriver to open the vacuum shell and access the motherboard.

Is it easy to tell which direction the plugs go in? +

Yes! The terminal connectors at both ends are "keyed" with specific plastic ridges. This foolproof design ensures they can only be plugged into the motherboard and sensor board in the correct direction.

Will this fix a broken bumper spring? +

No. This product is strictly the electronic connection cable. If your bumper is physically loose, won't spring back when pressed, or the plastic is cracked, you may need to replace the bumper springs or the mechanical bumper housing itself.
